PhD position (100%) - Risk assessment of bioaerosols in Zürich

This research group is looking for you!

Jobbeschreibung

ETH Zürich is one of the world’s leading universities specialising in science and technology. It is renowned for its excellent education, its cutting-edge fundamental research and its efforts to put new knowledge and innovations directly into practice. Applications are invited for a PhD position in the Air Quality and Particle Technology Group (Prof. Dr. J. Wang). The successful candidate will study at the Institute of Environmental Engineering and will also work at Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research).
The research is to investigate the risks posed to humans by bioaerosols, including airborne bacteria, viruses, fungi, and fragments of these organisms. Since bioaerosols are widely spread in the atmosphere, some pathogenic microorganisms can lead to a wide range of diseases in human and other organisms. Information of bioaerosol concentration, particle size distributions, and bioaerosols transportation is the essential factor in the risk assessment. The specific tasks are sampling airborne particulate matters in field work, characterizing the ambient with established methods, developing suitable numerical models and evaluating the risk of particular bioaerosols.
We look forward to receiving your online application including the following documents: a curriculum vitae, a complete academic transcript including undergraduate and graduate courses, copies of diploma/certificates, contact information of 2-3 potential referees, and a short description of research interests. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
