Head of Cargo Contribution Optimization (80-100%) in Zürich

The Contribution Management department is responsible for the contribution and capacity optimization of all intercontinental and European flights as well as for the road feeder network out of the hub Zurich. We are looking for a proactive team player who wants to take direct control of Swiss WorldCargo success by optimizing the cargo capacity on flights and trucks out of our hub. You will be leading the Cargo Contribution Optimization Team and you will be responsible to implement strategies and tactics to optimize the available cargo capacity of our flights and trucking network in order to achieve highest possible cargo profitability (contribution to SWISS overhead). Furthermore, you define and monitor team targets and KPIs to monitor performance, identify changing demand trends and adjust acceptance strategy accordingly. In addition, you drive and strongly support the development of decision support tools and reports and define requirements for system changes and new capabilities.

Your Duties:

• Lead Contribution Optimization department (18 staff) based in Zurich, Switzerland
• Responsible for contribution- and capacity optimization for all SWISS and Edelweiss Intercontinental- and European flights out of hub Zurich and Geneva
• Analyze the demand, capacity utilization and booking development and ensure that acceptance strategy is adjusted accordingly
• Proactively identify trends and propose changes to flight steering in coordination with flight steering team
• Ensure that short term flight opportunities are identified and flagged to sales organization
• Define team targets in line with Swiss WorldCargo overall budget and priorities
• Support Contribution Optimizers with complex evaluations and escalations
• Continuously develop department efficiency by improving staff expertise, processes
• Define requirements for enhanced system capabilities
• Convey the contribution management philosophy within Swiss WorldCargo
• Maintain structured exchange with internal and external interfaces

• Bachelor degree in business administration, economics, aviation or similar and at least 4 years of relevant work experience (Revenue Management or Sales) or 2nd level professional education with diploma (commercial degree like “KV” or equivalent) and at least 6 years of relevant work experience (Revenue Management or Sales)
• Knowledge of Contribution/Revenue Management philosophy and theory is an advantage
• Experience in air cargo or passenger air transportation
• Good knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office tools
• English: fluent in writing and speaking, German: good knowledge in writing and speaking, other language is an advantage
• Ability to lead and motivate team, direct leadership experience
• Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills in multicultural environment
• Ability to take decisions swiftly and manage conflict situations
