Your tasks
You will work on research projects funded by the InnoSuisse Agency as well as on basic science projects in the fields of electrodeposition of functional metal thin films, 3D galvanoforming of metal microcomponents (LiGA process), and nanoscale 3D printing based on electrodeposition via scanning probe microscopy techniques. Together with other team members you will characterize your materials using cutting edge analytical techniques such as scanning and transmission electron microscopy as well as surface analysis techniques such as TOFSIMS.
Your profile
You must hold a PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or similar. A high level of motivation to work in close collaboration with industry, experimentalists and international and multidisciplinary research teams is essential. Experience in electrodeposition of materials and related analytical techniques is desirable.
Empa in Thun offers an ideal working environment, with state-of-the art equipment (electrochemistry labs, a complete cleanroom processing line for lithography and galvanoforming, high level of materials analysis facilities). The city is situated in a beautiful area in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.
Applicants are invited for a 1-year appointment (extendable up to 5 years) starting from May 2021.
