Digital transformation is a unique opportunity for chemical analysis in terms of instrumentation networking, data harvesting, data management plan, chemometrical processing and database publishing. Modern techniques of ML/AI are boosting the insights with data management in compliance with the FAIR principles.
Your tasks
You implement the digital strategy of the laboratory with technical execution and scientific conception. The activity implies two main work packages:
(i) implementation of a data management plan (DMP) following the FAIR principles of open science;
(ii) implementation of data analytics and dashboards for real-time visualization and chemometric classification of primary data.
The former is based on the OpenBIS platform; the latter is based on your original contribution in interaction with the laboratory scientists. You will also participate in scientific projects of the laboratory, centered on chemical database generation. Examples are "digital reference materials" (within a EU collaboration) and "materials genomics" (with a Swiss collaboration). You report to the head of laboratory and contribute actively in the evolution of the digital strategy.
Your profile
You have a MSc in data science or equivalent degree, with hands-on experience in digital transformation. You have experience in networks, cloud computing, API interfaces, digitalization of chemical lab workflow, coding and implementation of LIMS/ELN platforms and data warehouse. You are familiar with Linux, LabView and Python. Knowledge of Jupyter, OpenBIS and Zenodo are a plus.
