The ability to generate soft X-rays in a compact tabletop setup permits studies in the home lab that are otherwise only possible at synchrotron. Besides the optimization of the existing tabletop setup, the main scientific goal is the optical control of the pump and signal pulses, for the application in materials science using soft X-ray spectroscopy.
You are actively involved in the advancement and deployment of a chirped pulse amplification system. The generated high power pulses are used for irradiation of materials, to study processes in materials such as shocks, ion implantation and plasma-driven X-ray amplification. The system will be automated and made self-optimizing with an array of sensors. You will strengthen our team to carry out experiments and publish results in peer review journals.
You are an experimental scientist with PhD in Optics, Physics or Engineering, with strong lab experience in the field, such as lasers, wave optics, raytracing codes, signal acquisition, data processing and pulse characterization techniques such as FROG. Knowledge in digital techniques and advanced data treatment is a plus. You are fluent in English in both oral and written. You are motivated to pursue an international scientific career and to strengthen your and our network.
