Head of Department Mobility, Energy & Environment in Dübendorf

As a designated member of Empa’s management team, you will play a key role in shaping the strategy, future direction and culture of Empa and you will be responsible for a research department dealing with novel materials, technologies and systems for energy, mobility and environment. Thanks to your widely recognized scientific achievements and an extensive background in natural-, environmental-, or material-science related topics, you will together with your team initiate new fields of research and drive interdisciplinary implementations. You have an extensive network and international experience both in a scientific environment and in collaborating with industry, politics and government. This will enable you to expand Empa’s national and international network and to represent the interests of Empa in relevant committees.

As a Head of Department, you will be responsible for managing several research labs with around 250 scientists and engineers in total, mainly located in Dübendorf, but also in St Gallen. You are a team player with strong communication and management skills and you will collaborate and find innovative solutions with our numerous partners in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.
