Postdoc or Scientist in energy systems modelling in Dübendorf

We are looking for a motivated and experienced candidate to develop strategies and methods to design and assess multi-energy systems from the building to the national+ scale. A particular focus lies on the modelling and optimization of energy systems and the characterization and assessment of traditional and emerging energy conversion and storage technologies. 
Challenges encompass, among others, urban multi-energy system design and flexibility integration, regional energy storage (electric, thermal and chemical), and the electrification of the heating and mobility sector along with the expansion of renewables as well as climate change mitigation. The candidate shall translate his/her research ideas to tackle these challenges, in close collaboration with our interdisciplinary team and external scientific and industry partners. The candidate will support our PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, publish in scientific journals, and participate in conferences.
You are a highly motivated and dedicated candidate with a PhD degree in Energy-, Mechanical-, Chemical-, Environmental- or Electrical-Engineering (or related field). You should have a profound and interdisciplinary knowledge of ongoing energy transition particularly multi-energy systems, energy markets/policies and energy conversion/storage technologies (in particular for Switzerland and the EU). Moreover, you have strong programming, modelling and data analysis skills in Python, Pyomo and R. Experience with geographical information systems (GIS) is a plus. Experience with the formulation and implementation of mathematical optimization problems is favorable. A good research and publication record is required. Additionally, experience with the development, acquisition and management of research projects is an advantage. The candidate should be proficient in English; good comprehension and oral skills in German are desirable.
