who will be responsible for developing and applying a simulation game in the frame of the SWICE (Sustainable Well-being for the Individual and the Collectivity in the Energy transition) project funded by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. 

The SWICE project aims to study and develop new sustainable designs and social models that can be integrated into actual Swiss policy measures supporting an effective energy transition. Over the period of 2022 to 2029, a consortium of Swiss research institutes as well as public and private organizations, led by EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), will search for ways to save energy and at the same time increase the quality of living and working in urban environments (living labs). The open position will contribute to the project goals by developing and applying a simulation game as a means of interactive stakeholder engagement. 

Your tasks include 
  • Designing and developing a simulation game in close cooperation with other partners of the SWICE consortium 
  • Organizing and co-moderating multiple simulation game workshops 
  • Coordinating and integrating views and requirements of stakeholders from living labs to the simulation game 
  • Assessing the impact of game applications on the players
  • Writing scientific publications
Your profile 
  • Master degree or PhD in game design, simulation or related disciplines including social sciences
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: game development, inter- or trans-disciplinary research, simulation, experiential learning, living labs
  • Preferably first experiences with any of the following topics: mobility, housing, energy, city planning, lifestyle research, applied ethics
  • Experience in scientific writing and publishing Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both written and oral)
  • Basic fluency in German and/or French
 
The workplace is St. Gallen and the starting date is January 2023 or upon mutual agreement. The position is initially limited to 3 years, with the option of further extension.
