The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is part of the ETH Domain. Approximately 600 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards.
The Research Unit Forest Dynamics assesses the effects of changing environmental conditions on forest ecosystem functioning. From February 2024, we are offering a two-year position as
You will investigate identifying novel thresholds for critical transitions and collapses of forest ecosystems thereby upscaling early warning signals of tree health decline and risk assessments for critical changes from the stand- to the landscape and country-level within the interdisciplinary SNF sinergia project UpScale.
This position requires independent and creative thinking to formulate hypotheses, familiarity with plant ecophysiology and a phd. Proven experience in forest ecosystem modelling and in the use of remote sensing products together with ground based information such as Eddy Covariance data is necessary. You have a very good command of English, knowledge of German is an advantage.
