The Portfolio Planning and Decision Analysis (PPDA) team provides the Project Teams, the early Strategic Portfolio Committee (eSPC), and the Pharma Research and Early Development Leadership team (pLT) with analyses and recommendations around strategic options and decision-making, to ensure we have the right information to make the best value-based decisions for a strong and balanced portfolio. PPDA is a team within Strategy, Portfolio & Clinical Operations (SPCO) which consists of two other global pRED functions. The Global Project Management (GPM) team, whose individuals are embedded in Project Teams, collaborate with PTLs and Project Teams to drive projects through the different milestones from 6 months pre-CCS all the way through to LIP. The Clinical Operations team combines the core capabilities of Clinical Program Execution, Biosample Operations, and Business Operations Management into one fully integrated unit focused on bringing medicine to patients.

During your internship your tasks will include:

  • Provides teams with decision analysis and strategic support to ensure alignment with portfolio priorities
  • Portfolio Planning and Decision Analysis (PPDA) representative for the Disease Therapy Area (DTA) teams when required - Supports TPP development for strategic portfolio projects
  • Performs project valuations (Net Present Value, Return Ratio) including sensitivity and scenario analysis to support development of business cases and decision frameworks for pRED projects
  • Provides input to help facilitate annual prioritization, goal setting, and business planning processes
  • Provides high-quality presentations and documentation in order to give portfolio context for decision-making
  • Partners with Global Project Managers to develop understanding of Roche pipeline across all development stages
  • Supports teams for timely and smooth asset transition from early development to late stage
  • Perform responsibilities while living and displaying the Strategy & Portfolio attitudes and behaviors

Your profile:

You are an enrolled MBA, PhD or senior Master student in Natural Science who is looking for a meaningful internship in a professional environment. You are highly self-motivated, passionate about working in a multinational company and you have good self-organisation skills.

Moreover you are/have: 

  • experience in life science or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with leading and managing cross-functional projects as well as making and giving presentations; in addition you have some experience in at least one indication out of Oncology, Ophthalmology, Neuroscience, Inflammation, Immunology or Infectious Diseases.
  • Experience with using databases, spreadsheets and decision trees
  • Understanding of a consulting environment using various analytic frameworks to structure and present complex business challenges.
  • Curiosity, analytical thinking and strategic agility
  • Excellent oral communication/ presentation skills and advanced skills with power point
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross functional team and build cross-functional partnerships
  • Proven customer service orientation, collaborative attitude and flexibility to compromise

The internship can start as soon as possible or upon availability. Please clearly indicate your preferred start date in your cover letter.
