Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship in Translational Electrophysiology Biomarkers for Neuroscience (2 years) in Basel

Roche ist ein Arbeitgeber, der die Chancengleichheit fördert.

Jobbeschreibung

The Roche Innovation Center Basel is leading in the research and development of therapies for brain disorders, with a focus on the fields of neurodegeneration and neurodevelopment. We are seeking an independent and highly motivated researcher for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Neuroscience Discovery group to develop and apply state of the art in vivo electrophysiology to the analysis of sensory-driven brain responses. You will use in vivo electrophysiology in rodents to produce and analyze brain signals of relevance in schizophrenia, autism, and neurodegeneration. The goal of the project is to establish a novel platform to interrogate brain circuit dysfunction and learn about pharmacological modulators of sensory evoked electrophysiological responses.

As a Postdoc Fellow you will lead a project that aims to interrogate brain circuit dysfunction, and with the use of advanced analytics enable scientists to judge experimental findings and even further find opportunities for improvement of currently established procedures.

The Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship (RPF) program aims to support excellent young scientists focusing on collaborative R&D projects between Roche and international academic institutions. Both internal Roche and academic experts will mentor you, and you will work mainly at the main Roche campus in Basel, Switzerland. You will work closely with neuroscientists as well as disease area specialists to contribute directly to the success of various neuroscience programs.

In this position you will:

  • Develop new in vivo electrophysiology rodent models based on EEG, event-related potentials, and intracranial recordings (e.g., transgenic, optogenetic and pharmacological models)
  • Apply cutting-edge analytical methods to back-translate human paradigms of clinical relevance in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders
  • Be expected to present your findings at key international conferences and publish your scientific results
  • Benefit from the mentoring and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of scientists at Roche and an academic partner

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies. Where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point.

You have obtained a Ph.D. no longer than four years ago in Neuroscience, Biology, or Natural Science. Also, you have knowledge in the area of neurophysiology, and you have demonstrated your ability to plan, execute and analyze in vivo electrophysiological experiments. If you bring as well the following skills and competencies, we are looking forward to receiving your application.

  • You have a formal background in neuroscience
  • You are a specialist in implementing in vivo electrophysiological techniques in rodent models and have published as a leading author in top-tier journals
  • You are extremely motivated to drive projects, design and perform experiments in pursuit of high-quality data
  • You have a profound understanding of complex biology and are eager to identify underlying mechanisms that will drive next-generation therapeutics
  • You have a strong team spirit, and you like to work in international teams
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team
  • If you have been able to gain basic knowledge of Python, R statistics as well as to obtain certificates like FELASA B,  LTK-1, or equivalent accreditation it will be of advantage
  • Your excellent English skills, written and spoken, complete your profile

Please include a detailed CV with a publication list, and a cover letter describing your interests and your expected date of availability.
