Student Internship in Digital Pathology and Tissue Technologies (6 months) in Basel

This position will entail development of immunohistochemical assays for cleared whole organ samples for imaging by light sheet microscopy, and multiplex immunohistochemical assays using brightfield and fluorescent techniques. You will work in an interdisciplinary team of pathologists, imaging specialists and laboratory associates in the Digital Pathology and Tissue Technologies group within Global Pathology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, under the supervision of the Head of Digital Pathology and Tissue Technologies.

This position also includes the following tasks:
  • Document all establishment protocols
  • Digitize fluorescent and brightfield slides using whole slide scanning
  • Follow appropriate SOPs and fill out paperwork with great attention to detail
  • Keep supervisor and team informed of project status
  • Perform work according to established internal safety guidelines and procedures
  • Analyze experimental data
  • Present results to the Pathology team

What do you need in your toolbox?
  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master‘s degree in Biology, Bioengineering or similar Life Sciences Background
  • You have experience with immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence
  • You are familiar with image analysis or slide scanning
  • Passionate to collaborate in a cross-functional team in a multicultural environment.
