Internship in Blood Gas Sensor Development in Zug

We are offering an opportunity for an internship in our BGE (Blood Gas & Electrolytes) Sensor Development Team to a team-oriented, inquisitive and motivated person. Our Team «BGE Sensors & Electrodes» develops, characterizes and optimizes different electrochemical sensors for medical devices in the area of in-vitro diagnostics (measurement of blood gases, electrolytes, and metabolites) to measure various parameters in whole blood. To be able to deliver the desired products, we select electrochemical, optical or enzymatic measuring principles and develop the corresponding sensor.
 
We are looking for an intern for 6 months (negotiable) to support our development team. We can offer you introductive insights into the complex and challenging area of sensor development work.Your main tasks would include:
  • Collaborating with our technical experts
  • Supporting the development team with your scientific knowledge
  • Optimizing complex electrochemical sensors and processes
  • Helping to investigate the aspects of the sensor design by planning and conducting different experiments and tests
  • Planning and conducting experiments and writing the corresponding analysis and documentation

Ideally, you fulfill the following criteria:
  • You are currently enrolled as a Master or PhD student or have recently (within the last 12 months) graduated in a technical field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Sciences)
  • You are interested in learning development processes of electrochemical sensors
  • You have a structured and self-reliant way of executing experiments and documenting their results
  • You are an open, flexible and team-oriented person
  • Good spoken and written command of English and German
