Student Internship in IT Project Management (from February/March 2019, 12 Months) in Basel

An internship in the Portfolio and Planning IT Delivery team at our site in Kaiseraugst offers you the opportunity to apply your IT knowledge, coordination and organizational skills as well as to obtain insights into Roche IT business applications landscape through your support to manage projects execution. During your time with us you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with PMP (Project Management Professional) certified Project Managers and other IT professionals with long experience while supporting us in delivery of different sizes projects in a truly international and complex IT business application context.

In this particular internship you will work in close collaboration with one of our project managers, depending on your skills and previous experience you will take over responsibility for certain aspects of project delivery (budget management, schedule control, risk management or business analysis to define scope) and have the opportunity to even manage an entire small project over time.

Your main accountabilities will be:

  • Collaborate on the formulation, definition and delivery of scope and objectives of projects in collaboration with the project manager and Roche internal and external team members.
  • Contribute to the definition of schedules and budgets baselines.
  • Assist (or lead) with business analysis activities to define a scope of the project and document requirements.
  • Actively manage risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) by carefully assessing potential impacts in collaboration with the project manager and other project team members and propose appropriate mitigation actions.
  • Help providing accurate, timely and fit for purpose project status reporting using established norms and reporting tools; support project document life cycle management according to our in-house project management methodology (PMM).
  • Contribute to organization of the appropriate involvement of project resources including onboarding of new project team members and associated logistics activities.
  • Support compliance with project management, portfolio management and CSV (Computerized System Validation) policies, guidelines and process tools of our project portfolio.

What do you need in your toolbox?

  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master (at least 1 year of studies in a bachelor program)
  • High proficiency in working virtually (Phone / Video-Conferences / Digital online and offline collaboration) is a must
  • You can demonstrate a track record of having worked well with others in a team environment as well as being a self-started and fully committed to the challenge at hand
  • Solid knowledge in Microsoft Excel and/or Google spreadsheets required
  • Knowledge of the project planning tools (MS Project or Smartsheet) is a plus
  • You are fluent in English verbally and in writing; Other languages, specifically German or French is a plus
